The role:
We have a pivotal opportunity within United Civil – the role of Senior Estimator. This position is not just a job; it is a chance to be at the forefront of our growth and success.
As a Senior Estimator, you will report directly to our New Business Manager. Your extensive experience in infrastructure projects and your proven track record of delivering accurate and competitive estimates will be invaluable, ensuring that we continue to deliver excellence in every project we undertake.

This is a newly created role, reflecting our commitment to growth and innovation. For the right person, this role offers flexibility – it can be based anywhere within the North Island. However, a connection to our Whangarei Centre of Excellence will be required, ensuring that you remain integrated with our core team and resources.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Develop precise and comprehensive cost estimates for complex infrastructure projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Analyse project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to create detailed and reliable estimates.
- Expert use of MS Project and Candy software to develop and manage project schedules and estimates, optimizing efficiency and accuracy.
- Conduct thorough reviews and evaluations of subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure the best value and quality.
- Create and maintain cooperative relationships that promote effective teamwork and collaboration among all stakeholders.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and innovative methodologies to develop unique solutions that drive tender success.
About you:
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in estimation, demonstrating a deep understanding of the field.
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
- Highly computer literate with advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS Project, and CCS or similar estimating software.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise information exchange.
- Extensive knowledge and well-established connections within the civil construction industry
- A methodical approach with a keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy in all tasks.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
